The Programs:

Traveling Music School

Our main program is the Traveling Music School that travels in a monthly cycle to three locations on the Navajo and White Mountain Apache reservations. We spend one week per month at each location. We teach these students keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, recorder, music theory, and recording technologies. We also spend one week per month at our home base of Dzil ná oodilii, New Mexico, working on lesson plans and administrative duties.

Some of the organizations we work with are Apache Youth Ministries on the White Mountain Apache reservation near Show Low, Arizona, Red Sands Christian School, Navajo Nation, near Winslow, Arizona, and American Indian Christian Mission, in Show Low, Arizona.

The Traveling Music School seeks to provide a healthy pastime to young people who are often in a position to choose between dangerous and self-destructive or healthy and productive behavioral patterns. In our two full school years of operating the Traveling Music School, we have seen improvement in the students’ lives and decision making. Some have become more stable, and their school attendance has improved. We have become “voluntary accountability partners” for the kids, encouraging them to make good decisions, to work and study hard, and ultimately to be who they were created to be.

Navajo Scripture Songs

We are also currently in the final stages of producing a Navajo medicine style recording of scripture. This is a very exciting project! We’ve heard nothing but great things about the early release copies that we distributed. With that in mind we will soon be distributing 2000 copies of a CD that is completely Navajo in musical style, language, and way of thinking of our relationship with our Creator. Recording Services

Sometimes we are able to offer recording services to native artists. This is a chance for us to bring the artist into our home, record and spend some time with them, and to eventually get them a demo CD or completed CD.
